My Bio

My name is Sylvia Sammons Spivey. I am a published author,
my first novel THE POCKET SACK, was nominated for
several major awards in my state. I am working on the sequel
to the epic southern story of two families who lived on farms
next to each other. The story begins in the early twenties and
comes forth to today's events. I own Cottagerose Publishing
which distributes these books. I autograph them and mail them
to the buyers. I can be reached at sylviaspivey@nlamerica.com

I have two daughters and am the mother of a son deceased.
It was my pride and joy to have TONY SPIVEY, THE
POETDUDE, be my first child. Tony was an amazing poet.
He died suddenly April 18, 2004 of a military related illness
and is buried in our hometown of Soperton, Georgia. His
award winning poem I AM AN AMERICAN is partially
engraved upon his grave, along with his picture.

My two daughters enjoy writing, one is home schooling her
son and the other has two young sons. She is a talented poet
and is working on a novel. The love of the south and our
fascination with the Civil War is evident in much of our work.

Tony's beautiful daughter and her work can be viewed on
MY SPACE. She is Malaan. Her husband, Harry Hansen, a
composer is easy to find. He has samples of the fantastic
music he and his family have composed. Malaan is a very
beautiful dark haired girl, a great joy to me.

My Occupation

I work daily on writing. I was left several books of poetry,
a novel, stories and plays which Tony had written. I also
have my own novels, stories and poetry to work on. It is
a full time job to get these things ready for publication.

My Hobbies

My favorite hobby is posting the poetry I write.
I have written since 1999 for Webstatic.com.
Galadrial's Respite, A Dove's Nest, MiPoeses,
Flowing Quills, Friendly Musings, The Peaceful
Pub, The Starlite Cafe, Aspiring Poets and a few
more. It has been very rewarding. I have forums on some
of these sites. On most sites I am Cottagerose,
but a few list me as Sylvia Spivey.

My four sisters and I publish a Christian Letter
and give it away to 900 people a month. It
has grown fast and the requests increase daily.

To be with my sisters and brother is a great joy.
We all look a lot alike, but we are very different
and that makes it interesting. We love "doo dads"
so we thrive on antique stores and flea markets,
etc. We write songs and make CD's so we are
never bored.
